With the recent rainfall in England, it is hard not to
become rather depressed by grey skies and chilly days. Thank goodness for the Aga! Mine has recently been converted by Aga
Twyford from oil to electric and I have to say it is the best thing I have ever
done.
My Aga doesn’t have a remote control, so I control it
manually. To be honest, I am happiest when I am in control! During the summer months (which, come to
think of it, should be NOW) I tend to turn my Aga down which results in
different cooking temperatures in my ovens, but the long and short of it,
things just take slightly longer to cook.
I do find in the summer, we are not so hungry, and I can usually offer a
salad with a delicious dressing, some poached chicken and a jacket potato and
the family seem to be content with lighter food.
I can never bring myself to turn off my Aga completely. It would make me totally miserable. Even in the summer, I find it is a welcoming
and comforting friend. Besides, I live
entirely without an electric kettle, toaster, microwave or tumble dryer, so
what would I do?
So, it ticks away at a lesser temperature, and I can’t say
that any of us suffer! George certainly
appreciates a lower electric bill and I am a happy housewife!
